This adventure begins on the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most famous scenic route. You and your local guide will ride in a luxury Jeep to the Laugarvatn Fontana Lagoon Geothermal Baths. After relaxing in the Geothermal Baths for a bit, you’ll enjoy a meal at the restaurant and then set out in search of the magical Northern Lights.
Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Bath is located in the center of the most popular tourist route in Iceland, the Golden Circle.
A unique experience of the healing powers of the geothermal springs. Soak in a natural pool, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam rooms, or for the venturesome, take a dip in the refreshing lake.
The Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Bath is warm enough to be a welcome respite in all kinds of weather. While it is one of Iceland’s prime attractions for travelers, you’ll be able to skip the crowds with our private transport.
You may have seen the Northern Lights (also known as the Aurora Borealis) in pictures or videos. Spectacular as those photos and videos may be, they don’t do justice to the experience of seeing the lights first-hand. And if you’ve seen the lights in person before, you know it’s a sight that never gets old!
The process behind the Northern Lights is almost as incredible as the lights themselves. It all begins when energized particles from the sun rush into our planet’s upper atmosphere. The particles move incredibly fast, traveling at speeds up to 45 million mph (72 million kph).
As the particles reach the atmosphere, Earth’s magnetic field redirects them toward the North Pole and the South Pole. The particles collide with gas molecules in the atmosphere as they travel, producing countless tiny flashes of light. Together, those flashes create the massive, multi-coloured ribbons of light we see.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so we can’t guarantee that we’ll see them on your tour. Our guides will reschedule with you if the forecast indicates that the lights won’t be visible. For that reason, we strongly suggest that you book your tour for your first night in town.
